What is CTO Recruiting, and why should I use it?
CTO Recruiting, a branch of CollegeTennisOnline, is a service dedicated to placing recruits with scholarships and admission to the college or university of their dreams. Founded by former top collegiate tennis players from schools including Princeton University and Loyola Marymount, CTO Recruiting helps recruits benefit from the hard work and passion they've put into the game of tennis to take them to the next level - college tennis and a top-notch college education. We've got the experience and background to help you achieve your college goals.
The biggest challenge for recruits in the college recruiting process is getting the necessary exposure to the right coaches. CTO Recruiting solves just that problem. With over 1200 subscribing coaches using CollegeTennisOnline to enter results, pictures, news articles, and statistics, CTO Recruiting subscribers get the maximum exposure needed, directly to the top college coaches!
What does a CTO Recruiting Subscription get me?
CTO Recruiting Subcriptions teach you how to most effectively position yourself throughout your recruiting experience. All subscribers gain access to a 70+ page Player Recruiting Guide compiled by CollegeTennis Online - the result of months of interviewing, questioning, and surveying past players, coaches, and college officials. Subscribers also gain access to our easy to use online tools, allowing them to publish their profile and information onto a private site accessed solely by thousands of collegiate tennis coaches.
Recruits use our tools to post a complete profile online that includes contact information, an academic profile, athletic profile, and financial profile, scholarship needs, cover letters, references, and more! The set of information posted is the EXACT information requested by the hundreds of coaches we surveyed in creating this product. After following the steps we outline in our Recruiting Guide, you can feel confident that you've done everything you can do give yourself the best chance to receive a scholarship or gain acceptance to the school you desire.
For a detailed breakdown into each subscription level, visit the Subscription Info Page.

My personal coach is going to help me get recruited, so why do I need CTO Recruiting?
We're not trying to undermine the impeccable reputation and relations your coach may have with college coaches - we just want to caution you to remember that there is often no guarantee in the recruiting game. There are thousands of great schools and programs throughout the US - make sure you have your bases covered and let your coach’s contact abilities be that extra edge. Even if you are a highly sought-after recruit or believe that you will have a set spot somewhere, don’t forget to ask yourself "what if?" — what if the coach is looking seriously at five recruits, what if you only end up with a partial scholarship? It's just a smart move to make sure that you have options— just in case, and also, so you can make a more qualified final decision.
As a prospective athlete, you need to be prepared to do a little legwork and research to get the coaches interested in you and to initiate contact. We are here to help walk you through the process, let you know exactly what you need to do, and make sure you're focused in the right direction. We also provide you with an in-depth view of the definitions, workings and rules behind the various levels of tennis competition.
Is CTO Recruiting currently the most cost effective tool on the market?
Other companies tell you that they will meet all your specific tennis recruiting needs. Instead, they will give you a list of schools that you can contact yourself, or they tell you that they will send your profile to coach. Oftentimes, these recruiting companies are focused almost entirely on the "big-time" sports like football and basketball. They don't know about the intricacies of college tennis, they don't know how to effectively promote a tennis player, and they don't know what tennis coaches are looking for. CTO knows tennis and deal with these coaches on a daily basis. No other recruiting service can deliver when it says it can let you be seen. We can.
Recruiting is a complicated process that often takes place over an extended period of time and we have recognized this and designed a system that will allow you to constantly promote your statistics and recent achievements and easily update this information. We have created three different subscription packages to attend to your specific needs and to allow you to start early and grow with the website’s increased services. There are a lot of generic recruiting services out there, but nothing has yet to combine academic information with a tennis specific focus through the CTO services which allow all of your important statistics to be constantly accessible to coaches searching for recruits.
We encourage you to explore the various recruiting services on the market. We believe that you'll see even more clearly why CTO Recruiting clearly stands above the rest.
When do coaches start evaluating prospects?
Each college begins the recruiting process for each sport at different times, but in general colleges want to attain a list of their prospective athletes as soon as possible and coaches are constantly scouting for new recruits.
When should I subscribe to CTO Recruiting?
Ideally, you want to subscribe to CTO Recruiting as soon as you get into high school, to make sure that you are on the right track, planning your tournament and curriculum accordingly. The sooner you become familiar with our content and our site, the greater the advantage you will for finding the right college program.
Do I need a personal video? And, why do I need CTO’s video service?
Yes! Creating a video of your basic strokes and possibly some points that coaches can easily view is essential. For many reasons, the coaches of schools you are interested in may not get to see you play. Keep in mind that coaches are very busy and they usually only travel to a few tournaments and within those they cannot possibly see every recruit. Watching live clips of you playing is extremely important for both the player and the coach in the recruiting process. If you are a prospective athlete, you want to be able to show the coach what you are beyond basic statistics and results, and often this is a good way to grab initial interest and promote further contact.
We have spent the time discussing what is and what is not important in producing a good video. Do you think a coach values you more by viewing a video that has special nifty special effects? No. What they want is a video that is clear, concise and to the point. We have the instructions and guidelines that will help you create this video.
Is it important to use the CTO Recruit Counseling service?
Some people might be comfortable enough with the information provided in our Player Recruiting Guide to run through the recruiting process on their own. Others might need a little bit of guidance. CTO has assembled a dedicated team of experts with years of experience, ready to assist you with any of your recruiting questions. Every subscriber qualifies for a in-depth counseling session with one of our experts.
I am not sure if I will even be able to play college tennis or qualify academically by the time I graduate, so what should I do?
Don’t sell yourself short. A better question to ask is, how do you know you won’t be ready to play? In fact, many college scholarships go unused and as a result of this, many Varsity tennis teams are being terminated from college programs. So, talk to your personal coach, maybe even go to some college matches and get a taste of the level of competition. And meanwhile, keep striving for your ultimate best both academically and athletically, because you never know what opportunities you may be presented with.
